The familiar cooling breeze, the darkened sky and the new assortment of sounds flourished about you in this mystic forest give you the hint that night has fallen above this strange grove. At first your senses begin to tense, as many past experiences have shown you that a walk through the forest during the night has never been a very comforting, or for that matter, safe venture. Who knows what dangers lurk behind each and every wooded corner of this leafy labyrinth and could ambush and attack you at any moment. However, you had a different feeling about the atmosphere of this certain forest path. Perhaps it was how the moon's light cascaded through the trees leaves about you, or perhaps the fireflies moving silently through the night air, everything in this quite night scene seemed to lull into a very rare state of calm in this strange and chaotic world. As you walk along the silent path, you come across a pool of water in the middle of the path. It is rather wide and at the same time seems rather deep despite no visible dips in the path for it to pool up. Suddenly the surface of the water begins to swirl in the center as if something beneath the water's surface were stirring it up. Soon the waters began to splash into small waves which began to fold over themselves into the vague shape of a clam shell. However, what sat upon this aquatic seat is what got your attention. A flawless female figure rested upon the watery throne. Her beautiful skin, translucent like rushing water, glowed exuberantly under the relaxing glow of the moon. As her hair flows gently like the ripples in a flowing brook, she opens her eyes and for one moment you both gaze upon one another. You feel as if time itself has slowed to a crawl so that you could enjoy the view of this exuberant beauty for as many moments as she can. Then, as quickly as she appeared, she slowly blends back into the pond as it slowly absorbs back into the earth, as if she had never appeared. Water Nymph created by the artist *malisaa, presents us with a beautiful scene represented by a mythical beauty that shimmer from the page into the viewer's imagination.

Within the artist's description, it is mentioned the spontaneous nature of this piece's development and creation, and the burst of beauty and personality resonates forth. The smoothness of the detail on the female subject's body, perfectly captures the beauty of its form and appearance in its environment. The detail in the background carry an almost dream-like quality to them, as if one is barely able to mentally stabilize themselves, which is a great immersion tool for the viewer. One quality that ads that much more is the overall atmosphere. The sense of mystery and grace within the piece is greatly expanded by the area and landscape that events are unfolding within. A cooling splash of water, a gentle nighttime breeze, the faint sounds of the rushing water or the subtle breath of the adventurer all blend one's mind within the piece and brings it all together. A nice touch by the artist, be it intentional or otherwise. It is the implementation of these compositional elements that manages to captivate the viewer within its waves and brings out the best of the piece from both a technical and conceptual level.

Now, there's is much that's really working out for this piece, there are something that are holding back the potential of the piece. One of the primary offenders to this rule would have to be the detailing in the background and foreground. The trunks of the trees could use a sharper touch in the bark texture as well as much more definition. The same could be said for the forest path, the trees in the far distance, or much more specifically the foreground water effects. There should be much more detailing as the water appears flat and unattractive, taking away a bit of the initial appeal that the piece originally garnered. Although I did say I liked the dream-like appearance, there is still quite a bit of detailing that is being missed out that distracts from the overall quality of the piece. Expand on everything you have presented in this piece and take to the next level. There is so very much potential to take this piece from good to enchanting right before the viewer's eyes. Just keep on experimenting with everything that you have here and it will all blossom forth like the plants under the spell of spring.
Within each scene we see and every story we are told, the strange and beautiful secrets they hold will always succeed at captivating us, reminiscent of the bedtime stories we were told as children. Water nymph manages to bring out those fantastical stories and myths that have been told over the years. While the female subject's detail and somber atmosphere of the scenery is a truly beautiful thing to behold in this piece, the general lack of polish and detailing in the image really holds back the piece from really standing out. If possible, this could be looked into in the future to polish this gem so it can brightly shine before its viewers.
